Fastest insect ...

There is a type dragon-fly that can fly at a speed of 35mph!

The Austrophlebia costalis or the Southern Giant Darner is a species of dragonfly specific to (surprise, surprise) the coast of Australia. It’s high speeds cannot be missed by those who live in those areas of Australia.

When scientists attempted to measure their speed, they found that the dragonfly’s average speed is about 60mph. This speed is equal to the speed of a cheetah, coyote, and hawk. The dragonfly is considered one of the fasted known animals.
