McDonalds had to donate to a school to get the domain of McDonalds.com!

If the domain is not registered yet, it’s yours.One of the most basic internet rules there is. As long as you have the money to pay for the name, you are allowed to keep it.

That’s something a lot of people do to get some money: GO FOR THE OBVIOUS. And that’s what a writer did after noticing that the McDonalds.com domain was available!

In the case of McDonalds, someone bought the internet domain of McDonalds.com before the anyone in their headquarters did! And not only that; since McDonald's didn't register "McDonalds.com", they had to donate to a school to get the domain from the wired magazine writer who registered it in 1994!

At least the writer was a Good Guy Greg and didn’t keep any of the money to himself and helped others in need. We could learn a lot from this guy.
