Sounds
extremely weird, but a paper written by the Department of Internal
Medicine from the Bnai Zion Medial Center in Haifa Israel, found just
that.
A 60-year old man with acute pancreatis developed persistent hiccups after they put a nasogastric tube in him. When they removed it, the hiccups didn't stop. They tried a bunch of methods, and none work.
At some point, they tried a digital rectal massage, aka they massaged his butt with a finger. The hiccups immediately stopped. He got the hiccups a few hours later, and the same technique worked again. That was the second time this had been observed.
The study concluded this should be tried first before recurring to any type of pharmaceutical methods.
