Jimmy Carter saved American beer!

Jimmy Carter is an American politician who served as the 39th President of the United States and was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, the only U.S. President to have received the Prize after leaving office.

Before he became President, he served as a U.S. Naval officer, was a peanut farmer, and served two terms as a Georgia State Senator and one as Governor of Georgia.

Many Americans think of him as one of the worst presidents in U.S. History, but in fact, if you enjoy having a beer at a bar every now and then you should be thankful for having him as a president in the past.

Until prohibition, America was home to great many “microbreweries”. After prohibition’s repeal, the government regulation of the industry favored large brewers like Anheuser-Busch. With the deregulation of the business in 1979, microbreweries and craft brewers finally had a shot and ended up thriving.

Jimmy Carted saved beer by deregulating the entire beer industry!
